Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information that may be collected when you use St. Clair County Court Docket, how it may be used, and the limited circumstances in which it may be shared. By browsing the site or using an available search feature, you accept the practices described here.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

Information entered into a search feature is sent to the outside provider that operates that feature. That provider processes the request and supplies its response. St. Clair County Court Docket does not maintain a site-side log of the name or case number entered into those tools.

Messages and Contact Submissions

If you send an email, we retain the message and the details needed to respond. We do not disclose message content outside our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

Like most websites, our servers can receive routine technical information when a page is requested. That information can include:

  • Your device's IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Device type and operating system
  • Pages viewed and time spent on them
  • The referring site, when one is supplied
  • Dates and times of page requests

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies and analytics services may help us understand aggregate traffic, page performance, and technical faults. You may limit cookies through browser settings. Doing so can affect how some site functions behave.

What We Do With This Data

Technical and message information is used to operate and improve the service. Uses may include:

  • Maintaining site availability and performance
  • Routing a search request to the applicable outside service
  • Evaluating aggregate page use
  • Diagnosing and resolving technical problems
  • Supporting advertising that may be interest-based

No Court-Record Data on File

St. Clair County Court Docket does not host, compile, maintain, or sell a database of court dockets or personal case information. The site provides general information about where St. Clair County case histories and documents are held, including the 31st Circuit Court, the 72nd District Court, Probate Court, the St. Clair County Clerk/Register of Deeds, and MiCOURT Case Search. We do not assemble visitor information into consumer reports or records about other people, and we are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Search tools may be operated by third parties. Information entered into one of those tools is subject to that provider's own privacy practices, retention rules, and terms. Those practices are outside our control, so review the provider's policy before submitting information.

Links to Other Websites

The site links to court, clerk, Michigan judiciary, and other reference resources. Once you follow an outbound link, that destination's privacy policy governs its collection and use of information. Review the destination's terms before providing personal details.

Advertising providers may also collect information across sites in order to deliver interest-based advertising. That activity occurs under their systems and policies.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal data. Information may be disclosed to limited categories of recipients when necessary:

  • Search providers that process a query you submit
  • Analytics providers used to measure performance and traffic
  • Advertising networks that serve content on the site
  • Government or law-enforcement entities responding to valid legal process

How We Protect Your Data

We use reasonable operational and technical safeguards for the information we collect. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee that an unauthorized event will never occur.

Users Under 18

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. If you believe a minor has provided information to us, contact us so the matter can be reviewed and the information removed where appropriate.

Your Data Rights

For a Michigan court record, the access route is the clerk that holds the file under Michigan Court Rule 8.119, which sets the public-access baseline for trial-court records. MCL 15.232 excludes the judiciary, including a county clerk acting as circuit clerk, from Michigan FOIA's public-body definition. Those rules concern court records, not a general right to information held by this site. You may still ask us to:

  • Provide a copy of personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information in our records
  • Delete information when applicable
  • Stop certain processing of your information

Updates to This Policy

We may revise this policy as our practices or services change. A revised policy will appear on this page with a new effective date.

Effective date: August 27, 2026
